Every once in a while when I have a tape rip off, I just re-stick it to the side of my diaper and fasten it up. Doesn’t matter if it’s cloth backed or plastic backed, I can usually salvage the diaper with half the tape on the front and half the tape holding the wing.

Interesting idea, and I can see where it might work. Use what's left as a short piece of tape and just tape it back together. How well that works will Depend™ on how good those tapes are in their own right. Nonetheless that's very clever.
